Every Day is a New Day
I learned a few things during Mod 1 but most importantly, I learned to never be overconfident in your abilities. I learned that some times it's best to have slightly less good data than to have no data at all. I always use the aspirator in my lab while working with bacterial cells during DNA extraction and purification but external factors that you may overlook can easily end up in an irreversible mistake if you're not careful. I ended up aspirating my group's + IPTG cells which was a rough blow. My lab mates will likely not let me forget it. They haven't thus far. I also learned that every day you have to show up with a clear mind and put your full attention to the task at hand because one error and you're set back anywhere between a day or a week. Mistakes are difficult to avoid given how frequently they can occur but anything that you can do to avoid one is an absolute must. It's better to ask too many questions than to make a single mistake.
