Spring Break = working in a warmer location

I’m glad I started this assignment so early. After turning in the Mod 1 report on Monday, I was ready to start reading my paper on Tuesday. It took me three days though! The figures in my paper all looked similar, but I had no idea what they were showing me.

After struggling to read my article at home, I finally went to my local library because I wasn’t getting anything done at home. I spent two WHOLE days in the library reading my journal article and starting my presentation. I was even working on it on the flight back here on Sunday morning.

Once I finished the presentation Monday night, I was feeling more relieved that I could finally start practicing. The first time I timed myself I WAS 7 MINUTES OVER. After practicing multiple times, I couldn’t get it below 11 minutes and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to meet the time limit. But cutting a few things out, I was able to hit the time.

I was really glad I presented on the first day. I was extremely nervous when I had to present, but on Thursday, I was able to relax and enjoy all of the presentations. Shoutout to all of the great Trader Joe's snacks the professors bought!

After it all, I was extremely proud of myself for reading and thoroughly understanding a journal article. I never thought I would be able to take someone else’s research, and with little background information, understand it to such a high level that I could explain it to other people. I haven’t presented on a topic since senior year of high school, and I felt a lot more comfortable and much less scripted this time. I wouldn’t say presentations are my favorite activity, but I know I will be much more prepared for the next time I have to present for Mod 3 and in future classes.
